Carb Dieting-Low Carb Diets-South Beach Diet-Atkins Diet-Zone DietCOUNTING CARBS OR CALORIES?A few years ago, the most popular mode of weight loss was to count fat grams; it was all the rage, with dieters sticking to a 30 grams-of-fat or less, daily diet plan. But that was then, and although we remain a fat-conscious society, the new Diet Kids on the Block are carbs and calories. So what works best when it comes to weight loss and diet success - counting carbs or counting calories?
Calculating carbs can be a bit tricky because it's the Net Carbs that the dieter should be concerned with. On the other hand, counting calories can be a hassle for many people - so from this aspect, both can be bothersome. However, counting calories is a more accurate mode of weight loss because every food item contains a food value - so that everything the dieter ingests is counted. Carbs are indeed a very popular and effective mode of weight loss, but if the dieter isn't cautious, they can actually gain weight if they go overboard because a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. |
